So the trip to Australia might be round for Julian Knowle: Actually, the now 46-year-old left-hander wanted to take the next step with the successful German duo Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies as coach. After Mies was unable or unable to compete in the ATP Cup or the Australian Open due to a knee injury, Knowle was only a spectator. But now the Vorarlberger is suddenly about to make a comeback: Together with the South African Lloyd Harris, he is in the tableau for the first major of 2021. And is presented with an entertaining task: Harris / Knowle meet the local heroes Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis .

From an Austrian point of view, there are two other starters: Oliver Marach and Philipp Oswald. Marach will start the race with Robin Haase, seeded in 13th position. The two open against the two youngsters Miomir Kecmanovic and Casper Ruud. As in the previous season, Oswald plays with Marcus Daniell and meets two French players in round one: Adrian Mannarino and Gilles Simon.

Tsitsipas and Schwartzman also in doubles

Kevin Krawietz will form a German doubles with Yannick Hanfmann, the two start against Divi Sharan and Igor Zelenay. Andre Begemann and Nikolz Basilashvili have to face the top favorites Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in round one, Dominik Koepfer and partner Tennys Sandgren against the two Belgians Kristopf Viegen and Sander Gille.

Incidentally, two players are also represented in the top ten of the individual world rankings: Stefanos Tsitsipas tries his hand at brother Petros, Diego Schwartzman with compatriot Federico Coria.
