Andy Murray has left Brisbane

The 32-year-old Scotsman will make his first solo appearance in the coming week since his injured hip surgery after the Australian Open in January. In June Murray had returned to the ATP tour in doubles and won the title at the Queen's Club in London with Feliciano Lopez on his first. Murray, who made his Cincinnati debut in 2005, won his first of 14 ATP Masters titles here in 2008 and won the final against Novak Djokovic. He also defeated Djokovic in the same place in 2011.

At the tournament in the US state of Ohio, the Americans Sam Querrey and Reilly Opelka and the Argentinian Juan Ignacio Londero also received wild cards.

The strong field at the seventh ATP Masters 1000 tennis tournament in 2019 is led by the former winners Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer and complemented by Murray from the former "Big Four".

Murray wins against Thiem

Andy Murray meets Frenchman Richard Gasquet, who himself had been injured for a long time and showed up again in Montreal, including after defeating Kei Nishikori, in his comeback in round one. Gasquet is currently only 66th in the world, Murray has dropped back to 325th.

In the event of a win, Murray would face Dominic Thiem on lap two. The Austrian is at number 4 and has a walk-through to start with. After that, Marin Cilic could wait.

Alexander Zverev also has a walk-through in lap one and could then deal with Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Above all, the top half of the Cincinnati draw is loaded: Novak Djokovic plays against Sam Querrey or Pierre-Hugues Herbert after a walk-through, then John Isner could be lurking. Roger Federer starts against Matteo Berrettini or Juan Ignacio Londero. Directly below, Stan Wawrinka and Grigor Dimitrov play again - the two have already met at the French Open and in Montreal, the Swiss won both times.

Thiem also started in doubles

The double competition in Cincinnati is also well-known: Dominic Thiem starts with Jan-Lennard Struff (opponents: Diego Schwartzman / Horacio Zeballos), Andy Murray with Feliciano Lopez and Novak Djokovic with Janko Tipsarevic.

Oliver Marach and Jürgen Melzer will meet Ryan Harrison and Jack Sock, the French Open Champs Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies will face Mate Pavic / Bruno Soares on six.
