It was Wimbledon when Coco Gauff caused a sensation for the first time in her young career. In south-west London, the only 15 -year-old legend defeated Venus Williams, even in the course of the week to advance to the second round - then there was only then against the eventual winner Simona Halep final stop.

It should not, however, remain the only strong performance of the American this year, among other things, she reached the third round at the US Open. In October Gauff got the first title of her still young career in Linz, Austria.

"It was a roller-coaster ride that never really went down, it's only going to happen in the off-season, it was a great year for me," says Gauff, aware of its impact. "When I look back, it's surprising, but I do not go to court to lose - that's not the right attitude," the 15-year-old continues.

Attacking game as goal

For the upcoming season, Gauff has set a very specific goal: to constantly improve. That's a big difference to the past season. "This year, I've had a lot of numbers-related goals, which has been a lot of pressure, so I just want to improve myself next year and not stick to a ranking or tournament goal," the American said.

This should succeed thanks to a more offensive approach in matches, so Gauff. In terms of fitness, the 15-year-old, who will turn 16 in March of next year, is already in a position to keep up with the best - that's what Gauff wants to prove in 2020 as well.
