When will Dominic Thiem make his long-awaited comeback? It's one of the big questions among Lichtenwörther fans.
Thiem had recently postponed his return, canceled an Australian trip, as well as the South American swing and the US hard court tour. First, because the hand (not the malad wrist) caused problems, Thiem had only said that he wanted to get back to sand, which he loved so much, for his absence in Indian Wells and Miami.
Thiem is on the entry list in Monte Carlo
The currently most likely answer to the question of the comeback: is probably Monte Carlo.
Thiem is on the entry list here and is currently number 50 in the world rankings. just about made it into the main draw (the cut is 52nd place). So Thiem does not yet have to resort to a protected ranking. Thiem is also registered for the ATP tournament in Belgrade immediately afterwards.
Thiem separates from Lucas Leitner
But the second big question about Dominic Thiem is: Who is currently part of Team Thiem? Because that has changed a lot in the last few years. In 2019 Günter Bresnik separated and in 2020 the collaboration with Thomas Muster came to an end. This was followed by the separation from manager Herwig Straka in favor of joining "Kosmos", football star Pique's agency. Also saying goodbye to physiotherapist Alex Stober after Thiem blamed him for returning too early after the wrist injury. Fitness trainer Mike Reinprecht was no longer there in preparation for 2022, but Jez Green, the ex of Andy Murray and Alexander Zverev.
And now: Lucas Leitner doesn't seem to be part of the team anymore either, as reported by heute.at . Leitner is a childhood friend of Thiem and has been on tour since 2017, taking care of many things, especially Thiem's appearance on social media. A Viennese agency is currently taking care of Thiem on Instagram and Co., still on a probationary period, but probably for some time.
Thiem now with the Nadal man
Benito Perez-Barbadillo also seems to be working for Dominic Thiem as a new PR man, he is best known for his collaboration with Rafael Nadal. "We don't want to change Dominic, we want to show the world what he is – on and off the pitch. He should become a global figure," quoted the Spaniard today .
What Thiem will look like on the pitch in 2022 - his fans hope to see it in just under a month. In Monte Carlo, the main field games begin on April 10th.
