Good news for Novak Djokovic : The Serb will most likely be allowed to start at the French Open. As the French government announced on Thursday, most of the corona restrictions will be lifted on March 14. Accordingly, there is no longer any obligation to show proof of vaccination anywhere in the country.

"From Monday, March 14th, we will suspend the application of the vaccination certificate wherever it was previously applied. The health situation is improving thanks to our joint efforts," French Prime Minister Jean Castex told TF1 television. A 3-G regulation should only remain in place for access to health facilities such as hospitals and retirement homes.

So nothing should stand in the way of Djokovic's French Open start. The unvaccinated second in the world rankings had missed the first Grand Slam tournament of the year in Australia after a long back and forth and would therefore complete his first major event of the season from May 22nd. The 34-year-old won the title in Paris last year.

Due to the easing, Djokovic can also take part in the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo (April 10th to 17th). At this month's two events in Indian Wells and Miami, however, the 20-time Grand Slam winner will be the big absentee due to lack of vaccination.
