Zverev celebrated his first victory on the tour after his disqualification in Acapulco - at the tournament in Mexico he was taken out of the singles draw after freaking out in the doubles competition. /

Zverev was convincing in the subsequent Davis Cup, but in Indian Wells he asked for an early exit against Tommy Paul. The start of the year at the Australian Open did not go according to plan either, with a knockout round after a poor performance. After all, this was followed by the finals in Montpellier.

In Miami, however, the hope of tearing something again in a big tournament. Zverev sometimes had a hard time against Coric, 6: 4, 3: 6 and 6: 3 it was said in the end, he now meets Mackenzie McDonald , who surprisingly won against Grigor Dimitrov.

"That was a good first step," said Zverev after his victory, which he needed, specifically "a kind of victory". He played aggressively and didn't want to give up the match like he did last time.

Zverev is currently in a test phase with Sergi Bruguera

Sergi Bruguera should also help at the moment. The Spaniard, two-time French Open champ, was spotted alongside Zverev in Miami, and there is talk of a trial period.

Zverev was recently on the road without an external coach, brother Mischa took over most of the training after dad Alexander Zverev Sr. was recently absent.

Zverev had already tried Bruguera's compatriots a few times. A collaboration with Juan Carlos Ferrero allegedly failed due to a lack of respect and Zverev's unpunctuality, as Ferrero said. A quite successful section with David Ferrer, because he apparently didn't want to travel as much as he realized after a few weeks, "it wasn't the right time", also for family reasons.

And Ivan Lendl, not Spaniard, but at least an expert, talked more about his dog and his golf game than tennis, as Zverev explained to the public after the breakup.
