Nadal looks confidently to the ATP Finals: "That will help me in London"

Historic 13 French Open titles in the west of the city, none in the east. Rafael Nadal continues to pursue his first Masters 1000 title at the indoor tournament in Paris-Bercy. But despite the 4: 6.5: 7 semi-final defeat against Alexander Zverev on Saturday, like Roger Federer, the 20-time major winner remained positive.

It was a good tournament for him, assured the 34-year-old Spaniard. "I was competitive. I kept up to the end against a player who plays great on this surface and on whom he wins a lot," explained the second in the world rankings from Mallorca. "So it was a positive tournament for me."

Another tournament, which he has never won, is now on the agenda from November 15th: the "Masters" or the ATP Finals in the London O2 Arena for the eight best players of the calendar year.

"Of course I wanted to win the tournament," said Nadal, referring to Paris. "But I had the right attitude all week, I fought every match. That enabled me to play four matches and I think that will help me in London," believes Nadal. He had to work on a few little things, but he was fine with the important things.

The individual participation in the ATP Finals has already been decided. Novak Djokovic, Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev and Diego Schwartzman are the eight best players of the year. There is still a place in the doubles.
