Roger Federer is working on returning to the tennis court, although a comeback on the tour still seems a long way off. /

Federer is currently still in the rehabilitation phase, Federer's long-time coach Severin Lüthi explained to the Schweizer Tages-Anzeiger . However, not only passively. "He can always do more, is actively working. Not only the muscles of the knee or leg are built up, but the whole body is strengthened. It's a real fitness program," says Lüthi.

Federer's legendary fitness coach Pierre Paganini, on the other hand, is not yet at work, but is of course in contact with him. And Paganini in turn with Federer's physiotherapist, Daniel Troxler.

Federer also told him that he wanted to hit a few balls with Mirka this week. "The main thing for him is to slowly get back into it," said Lüthi.

Mirka Federer knows how to handle the racket, was once in the top 100 before she had to end her career early due to foot problems.

Federer: start in Wimbledon unlikely

Federer himself had given a rough prospect of his comeback after the end of last year. Would be surprised if I played Wimbledon again," said Federer . Apparently little has changed about that: I don't see how he should play in Wimbledon at the moment," Lüthi said. "I'm not the one who says: impossible, but I can't imagine it at the moment."

After all, Federer seems to be planning for September: Here he is registered for the Laver Cup and wants to tackle another double with Rafael Nadal. Federer and Nadal won the first "Fedal" doubles at the Laver Cup premiere in Prague in 2017.
