Just two weeks ago at the Laver Cup, Federer paid a surprise visit to his playing colleagues and was seen walking into the hall on crutches - now he is apparently rid of them. As the American site tennis.com found out, Federer was at a wedding in Italy last weekend. And, interesting for tennis fans: without crutches. In other words: things are moving forward for the 20-time major champ who wants to attack again in 2022. /

The wedding itself? Was a highly decorated one, namely that of Alexandre Arnault and Geraldine Guyot; In addition to the Federer family, Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams participated.

The reason: Groom Alexandre is the son of Bernard Arnault, who is said to be the third richest man in the world (allegedly worth around 250 billion US dollars). And Federer: is a long-term partner of one of the family luxury brands, namely Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (including champagne Moët & Chandon). So one can assume that the celebration was fine and the food was edible. And there was no cheap sparkling wine.

Federer: Comeback in 2022

Federer still has a long way to go back to the tennis court, as he had already explained during the Laver Cup. First run properly, then run, then sidesteps, and, and, and ... and at some point tennis again. One thing is certain: there will not be enough time for the Australian Open. Federer had already announced that he would not stress with a return.

The 40-year-old had already had two knee operations behind him in 2020 and was ultimately absent for more than a year. Federer made a short comeback in Doha in spring 2021, then played again in Geneva and at the French Open, and finally in Halle and Wimbledon. Apparently, the knee had caused problems on the lawn again, so that Federer had to tackle another operation .
