US Open: Karen Khachanov and the confusing story about his wife
Karen Khachanov is currently on everyone's lips, not only because of his strong performance at the US Open. His private life also has an interesting story twist to offer.

So hand on heart: Even with a tennisnet editor who deals day in and day out with the sport of the yellow felt ball and its protagonists, there are slight to severe "blind spots". Such a person could - also for one or the other colleague from other media - be Karen Khachanov, next to Carlos Alcaraz, Frances Tiafoe and Casper Ruud the fourth in the group when it comes to the clashes in the semifinals of the US Open 2022.
The 26-year-old man from Moscow is currently in 31st position in the ATP ranking and has so far won four individual tournaments in his nine-year international career - the two greatest successes were certainly the 2018 tournament victory at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris -Bercy against Novak Djokovic in the final and the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics when the Russian had no chance against Alexander Zverev 3-6, 1-6 in the final.
Confusion surrounding Khachanov's wife
So far, so sporty fact-based. But what else is there to know about the 1.98 meter tall right-hander - what is the professional's private life like? Khachanov has been married to Veronika Shkliaeva since 2016, with whom he has been dating since 2011. The couple has a son together, named David, who was born in 2019.
The most exciting glamor gossip of all concerns Khachanov's better half: Shkliaeva is the twin sister of Ilya Ivashka's wife. The Belarusian, who also earns his income as a tennis professional, is the brother-in-law of the current US Open semi-finalist. To add to the confusion, Shiklaeva's twin sister has the same first name as Veronika.
With both Khachanov and Ivashka revealing little to nothing about their private lives, conspiracy theories of all kinds have also sprung up around the internet, spawning the strangest blossoms. But this is another story...
