The goal is to hold the US Open 2020 in Flushing Meadows from August 31 to September 13 as planned, including spectators. This was announced by the US tennis association in a press release on Friday. However, due to the uncertainty of the situation due to the corona virus and all associated uncertainty, one should also check other scenarios, such as a run without fans.

However, a shift in the date or the venue would not be at the forefront of the consideration.

The goal is to make a decision about the status of the US Open in six to eight weeks - in mid-June - it is now said.

The latest speculation was whether the Grand Slam tournament could possibly go to Indian Wells this year, as New York is severely affected by the corona virus. The tennis facility is currently converted accordingly .

All international professional tournaments, including the classic lawn in Wimbledon, are currently canceled by July 13th. There is speculation about a clay court tour in late summer, around the postponed French Open, which should take place after the US Open.
