The dream quarter-finals in Wimbledon 2022 is set: Tatjana Maria meets Jule Niemeier , one of the two will move into the semi-finals. And then?
We're not looking that far yet. A little review. At the age of 34, Tatjana Maria made it into the last eight of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time, to the great joy of everyone in the professional circus . Maria is popular, one of the nicest players, her family with two children is always with her on the tour. Maria says that without a family she would no longer be a tennis pro at all. And anyway: her husband, Charles Edouard, himself a former professional and trainer, is the one who always believes in her.
Maria only attacked the tour again in late 2021, following the birth of her second daughter, Cecilia, in April; her older daughter Charlotte (8 years) is also ambitious to try it as a tennis pro. She now even acts as a training partner for Tatjana.
Jule Niemeier is calm itself
Maria also unnerved Jelena Ostapenko with her slice game – but how does Jule Niemeier deal with it? She doesn't worry about it that much, she said.
Niemeier is just as sensational in the second week of Wimbledon. She was considered a talent, but many injuries have delayed a successful start. The 22-year-old now works in Michael Geserer's academy, and her coach is Christopher Kas, who thinks highly of Niemeier and actually doesn't expect the very high level for 12 to 18 months. The calm with which Niemeier acts impresses him, says Kasi.
