The fact that Dominic is firmly in the main draw at Wimbledon is of course not worth the headline. The fact that his friend Dennis Novak is doing the same is, however, as reported , a bigger surprise. Austria's number two slipped into the main competition due to the cancellations of Rafael Nadal and David Goffin, among others. There the two only get possible support from Sebastian Ofner (ATP 174). Jurij Rodionov, who had already struggled with a hip injury in Stuttgart and Halle, withdrew from the preliminary round for the third Grand Slam tournament of the year.

Ofner, the only Austrian in a 128-strong field, will start with the German Cedrik-Marcel Stebe. The 20-seated Austrian by choice is currently at position 136 in the ATP rankings. There has not yet been a duel between the two at ATP Tour level. Should the Styrian be successful, either Mario Viella Martinez (ATP 176) or the Russian Andrey Kuznetsov (ATP 418) would wait in round two.
