World number one Iga Swiatek served for the first time at this year's Miami Open today and started the tournament very confidently. The young Pole clearly dominated the match and won 6:1 and 6:1 against the Italian Camila Giorgi. The 22-year-old Indian Wells winner was able to get a little closer to the “Sunshine Double”...

Naomi Osaka, who competed against 15th seed Elina Switolina, was also happy. In the first set, Osaka hardly gave Monfils' wife a chance and secured it 6:2. The second set was much tighter. Svitolina got stronger and Osaka showed some nerves. So it went to the tiebreak, which was extremely close until the end. Ultimately, the Japanese woman was able to win the second set 7:6 (7:5).

Jessica Pegula is also one lap further. The American, seeded fifth at the tournament, defeated Zhu Lin in straight sets 6:4 and 6:1.

Tournament favorite Swiatek will next face Linda Noskova. Osaka will face the experienced Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia. And Jessica Pegula can look forward to Leylah Fernandez.
