Abu Dhabi: Dominic Thiem meets Andy Murray on comeback
Dominic Thiem is making his comeback at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships from December 16 to 18 - and meets Andy Murray directly.

That was the result of the draw at the invitation tournament in Abu Dhabi.
And the Mubadala World Tennis Championships are once again top staff: In addition to the former world number three Thiem and ex-number 1 Murray, Andrey Rublev (ATP No. 5), Rafael Nadal (ATP No. 6) and Casper Ruud ( ATP No. 8) three current top 10 players at the start, as well as Denis Shapovalov (ATP No. 15).
The schedule is already set: on December 16 from 1 p.m. CET, Shapovalov and Ruud will play, from 3 p.m. Thiem and Murray will play.
In the semifinals on December 17th, the winner of the game Shapovalov vs Ruud will meet Andrey Rublev (1 p.m. CET), followed by Thiem / Murray against Rafael Nadal (from 5 p.m. CET).
The game for 3rd place will take place on December 18 from 2 p.m. CET, the final from 4 p.m.
In the women's category, Belinda Bencic will meet US Open winner Emma Raducanu (December 16, from 5 p.m. CET).
Andy Murray won the invitation tournament in 2009 and 2015. The last event in 2019 was won by Rafael Nadal, who is the record winner with a total of five titles.
Dominic Thiem: first match after injury break
Thiem last played at the ATP tournament in Mallorca and injured his right wrist here. The attempt to get fit again before the US Open to defend the title failed; Thiem experienced a setback and had to pause again. An examination at the beginning of October was positive , however, and an operation in the room could be avoided.
In the last few days Thiem posted a video that shows him with a couple of back hands - so the punch training is on again.
Thiem will not be at the start of the Davis Cup next weekend, the home game here comes too early for him.
