He thought extensively about the short-term and long-term strategies for his future. "And that's why, and because of the ongoing global restrictions, I have decided to go back to the roots with my family in the training area and Mischa and Sergei Bubka in management," wrote Zverev on Instagram. He wanted to thank TEAM8 for the great work and incredible experience, "but we both feel that it is the right decision to have my family take on a bigger role again." /

TEAM8, which was founded by Federer's manager Tony Godsick and in which Federer is also involved, only started working with Zverev in 2019. Zverev himself was in a legal dispute with his old manager Patricio Apey, which finally ended in December 2020 .

Zverev: Many scandals in 2020

Zverev had made some headlines in 2020, especially outside the square: On the one hand, through his appearance on the scandalous Adriatic tour by Novak Djokovic and the subsequent party in Monte Carlo , where Zverev interrupted his self-imposed corona quarantine. On the other hand, through the allegations of domestic violence by his ex-girlfriend Olya Sharypova . And by announcing that he is expecting a child from his last girlfriend Brenda Patao in 2021.

After the Monaco party, Zverev and his management held back completely in the sense of an explanation / apology, Zverev himself left a press conference when questions arose.

Just separated from David Ferrer

Just a few days ago it became known that David Ferrer will no longer act as Zverev's trainer in 2021 - the two had started their cooperation in late summer 2020 after a test phase and with Zverev's tournament victories in Cologne and the final at the US Open - where Ferrer has not yet officially acted as a coach - good results. Ferrer was quoted as saying that it was "not the right time to work together" for him, the family is paramount.
