Benoit Paire will open in Ismaning this year

With Quentin Halys (ATP 86), an “old acquaintance” leads the entry list. At his fifth start in Ismaning, the Frenchman is an absolute contender not only because of his participation in the singles semifinals last year and his doubles title in 2019. The 25-year-old has already won two Challenger titles this year, making it into the top 100 for the first time. Also with two season titles on the ATP Challenger tour, Tomas Machac (ATP 109) returns as the tournament's No. 2, leading the ranks of Czech hopefuls.

The 21-year-old will be accompanied by Zdenek Kolar (ATP 226) and Jonas Forejtek (ATP 224), who started in Ismaning in 2019 as the newly crowned US Open junior winner. Seeded No. 3, Dennis Novak (ATP 111) will represent neighboring Austria. The 29-year-old reached the final of the Category 125 Challenger tournament in Szczecin last week and is aiming for his comeback in the top 100 in the world rankings.

Struff leads German contingent

As No. 4 of the tournament, Jan-Lennard Struff (ATP 132) is also one of the absolute favorites. The 32-year-old Warsteiner laid the foundation for the advance of the German team to the final tournament in Malaga with three victories in singles in the group phase of the Davis Cup finals in Hamburg. The DTB are also represented by TennisBase professional Daniel Masur (ATP 176), who was the only player to have competed in all previous editions of the Challenger in the north of Munich and was able to advance to the quarter-finals four times, and Mats Moraing (ATP 240) from Mülheim an der Ruhr .

Benoit Paire in Ismaning for the first time

With Vasek Pospisil (ATP 142) and Benoit Paire (ATP 168), two players will also be at the start who were already among the absolute best in the world. As a former No. 25 in the world, the 32-year-old Canadian Pospisil excelled on the grass in particular at Wimbledon by reaching the quarterfinals in singles and the title in doubles and should therefore be considered on the fast track in Ismaning. The 33-year-old Frenchman Paire enjoys a huge fan community worldwide. In addition to his sporting quality, which he has already proven with three titles on the ATP tour, the former No. 18 in the ATP ranking attracts spectators to the tennis arenas with his eccentric performances.
