ATP Hamburg: Spanish Festival on Thursday - Pablo Carreño Busta reaches the quarter-finals

Thursday on Hamburg's Rothenbaum was firmly in Spanish hands, three Iberians fought for a ticket to the quarter-finals. While Pablo Carreño Busta was successful with it, Albert Ramos-Vinolas failed in the round of the last eight.

At the start of the game day, however, there was a real thriller to watch. Dusan Lajovic from Serbia had a lot of trouble with the qualifier Alex Molcan, after winning the opening set he had to give up the second round 6: 7 (2). However, the number five of the tournament got back on track in the decisive set and finally got his quarter-final ticket 6: 3.

This is now against Pablo Carreño Busta, who goes to work as number two at Hamburg's Rothenbaum. The world number 13. met Carlos Taberner in the all-Spanish duel on Thursday, and finally won with 7: 5 and 6: 3 after a hard-fought opening set. In head-to-head with Lajovic, Carreño Busta leads 2-1.

Ramos-Vinolas fails

The next Spaniard to pursue his trade on Center Court on Thursday has already failed: Albert Ramos-Vinolas. This got to do with the Argentine Federico Delbonis and was left behind with 3: 6 and 6: 7 (4).

Yesterday, Wednesday, the tournament's number one, Stefanos Tsitsipas, made it to the quarter-finals. The Greek meets Filip Krajinovic in the round of the last eight, Nikoloz Basilashvili and Laslo Djere meet in the second four-finals in the upper half of the draw.
