Jan-Lennard Struff did not take the momentum from his tournament victory at the Challenger event in Braunschweig and was eliminated in Hamburg in the first round. The Warsteiner lost 6:3, 3:6 and 6:7 (2) to Karen Khachanov, who was seventh. In the third set, Struff missed two match balls.
