Rürst Albert was there, as were the two Formula 1 aces Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly. And everyone kept their fingers crossed for local hero Romain Arneodo and his Austrian partner Sam Weissborn. And after a messed up first set that only took 23 minutes, Arneodo/Weissborn almost made the sensation against Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek and even had two match points in the match tie-break.

In the end, however, a ball from Arneodo went wide, Dodig and Krajicek won 6:0, 4:6 and 14:12. For Sam Weissborn it was still the best tournament of his career. the 31-year-old was finally able to conquer several world-class doubles with his partner, such as Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury or the German Davis Cup duo Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz.
