29 wins and three defeats - that is the balance sheet of Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic for the tennis year 2021. On Sunday the two Croatians clinched their fifth title of the year in Monte Carlo, like Miami against Neal Skupski and Daniel Evans. This time Mektic and Pavic won 6: 3, 4: 6 and 10: 7. In addition to the two most recent events, the two, who had only agreed to work together at the end of 2020, triumphed in Rotterdam, at one of the preparatory tournaments in Melbourne and at the start of the season in Antalya.

One of the three defeats of the year still weighs heavily, however: In the semifinals of the Australian Open, Mektic and Pavic were defeated by the eventual winners Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek in two sets. In addition, they lost in the Dubai final against Robert Farah and Juan Sebastian Cabal. And the quarter-finals in Doha also went wrong against Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin.

Last year Mektic won the ATP final in London alongside Wesley Koolhof. Mate Pavic played the 2020 season with Bruno Soares. And together with the Brazilian won the title at the US Open - in the final against Koolhof / Mektic.
