Tournament director Patrik Kuehnen wanted to highlight Taylor Fritz in particular, along with all the other stars who will be playing at the MTTC Iphitos from April 17th. It's been quite a long time since a current US number one opened in Munich. And Fritz, who, among others, also won the tournament in Indian Wells last year, will be coming to the Bavarian capital for the first time.

And, as of now, not even number one. Because that goes to defending champion Holger Rune, who was given a wildcard by Kühnen last year. Speaking of which: Dominic Thiem, finalist from 2016, is coming back to Munich after seven years. At that time, the Austrian was able to prevail against Alexander Zverev in the semifinals. Which in turn is of course the biggest attraction for the home fans.

The other two wildcards go to Jan-Lennard Struff and Oscar Otte. Matteo Berrettini will also be there, as well as interesting players like Sebastian Baez or Maxime Cressy with completely different ideas on how to win a match.
