This is reported by several British media . "We welcome Andy Murray with open arms," said tournament director Craig Tiley. /

Murray had announced the likely end of his career at the Australian Open 2019 and had been emotionally adopted after his five-set break against Roberto Bautista Agut.

However, the hip surgery went so well that the Scot came back in the summer of 2019 in doubles andmixed , and in the late year also in singles. Most recently, however, Murray had been thrown back due to injury, currently he is only listed at 122nd place in the world and therefore - as of now - relies on a wildcard. This saves Murray the qualification tournament that will be held in Dubai this year.

The Australian Open will take place from February 8-21, 2021.

Tiley on Murray comeback: "Highlight of the Australian Open 2021"

"As a five-time finalist, he was involved in so many wonderful matches and stories in the last few editions of the Australian Open," continued Tiley. "His resignation was such an emotional moment and seeing him now, having returned to the tour after his surgery, will be a highlight of the 2021 Australian Open."

Murray, two-time Wimbledon champion and winner of the US Open, has already reached the final of the Australian Open five times, but has not yet won. In 2010 he lost to Roger Federer, in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016 to Novak Djokovic.

It was announced on Saturday that Murray would also receive a wildcard for the first ATP tournament in the new year , in Delray Beach.
