The 31-year-old prevailed impressively in just 56 minutes with 6: 1, 6: 2 against Viktoria Kuzmova (Slovakia). Görges, number 38 in the world rankings, now meets Petra Martic (Croatia), number 13, who won 6: 3, 6: 0 against Christina McHale (USA).

Görges dominated her opening match at pleasantly cool temperatures and light wind on the small Court 5 at will. With powerful and variable game, she repeatedly forced number 60 in the world rankings to make mistakes. In addition, she hit nine aces. Last year, Görges lost in three sets to Danielle Collins (USA) in the first round.
