Rafael Nadal 's comeback was over after just three matches. The 22-time Grand Slam winner suffered a muscle injury in Brisbane and had to withdraw from the Australian Open. Around a month later, the ATP 250 tournament in Doha was canceled again.

Nadal now wants to make his next attempt at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells (March 6th to 17th). Before that, the 37-year-old will face his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz in an exhibition fight broadcast by Netflix ("Netflix Slam") in Las Vegas on Sunday.

For Alcaraz, the duel with Nadal will also be a first small assessment after an injury break: The world number two recently suffered an ankle injury in Rio de Janeiro. Since then, the reigning Wimbledon champion has only been able to train to a limited extent.

However, things only get really serious for Alcaraz and Nadal in Indian Wells. While defending champion Alcaraz is considered one of the favorites for the title despite his recent injury, Nadal wants to get a good feeling for the European clay court season in the Californian desert.
