Davis Cup: Third victory after a double thriller by Krawietz and Mies

Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies clinched their third win against Argentina in their first appearance for the German Davis Cup team in an exciting double over three sets of tiebreaks. The success of the flawless start the German team draws with the Argentines at the top of Group C on points equal.

Kevin Krawietz (ATP double 9) and Andreas Mies (ATP 11) have managed to give the German Davis Cup team a flawless 3-0 victory over Argentina at the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid. In a thrilling double thriller over three hours and 18 minutes of playing time, the duo from Munich and Cologne prevailed against Leonardo Mayer (ATP 61) and Maximo Gonzalez (ATP 34) with 6: 7, 7: 6, 7: 6. With the eighth match ball, Krawietz transformed the match ball into a hotly acclaimed 20:18 with a smash in the tiebreak of the third set in front of the applauding Boris Becker. /

On Thursday against Chile

After the two previous wins by Philipp Kohlschreiber and Jan-Lennard Struff against Diego Schwartzman and Guido Pella, the final result between Germany (11th of the Nations Rankings) and Argentina (3rd) was 3: 0. In Group C, the team of captain Michael Kohlmann is thus after the first game in first place in front of the Argentines, who had won their opening match on Tuesday against Chile 3-0.

While Germany will reach a match point from the three matches to progress in the closing preliminary match on Thursday (11am) against Chile (22), Chile can only qualify for the quarter-finals with a flawless victory over Germany.
