"After three months of isolation, Grigor ended up directly in Belgrade. Neither there nor later in Zadar (Croatia) was he offered or asked to be tested for Corona," wrote Georgi Stoimenov on social media. The organizers of the event were responsible for safety and for observing the rules. "Grigor complied with all the regulations imposed by the organizers. So did the laws when it came to crossing the borders between Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia." /

Dimitrov had announced his positive test on COVID-19 via Instagram on Sunday evening, followed shortly afterwards by Borna Coric and Victor Troicki. On Tuesday, organizer Novak Djokovic also announced that he and his wife Jelena had tested positive for the corona virus.

It is not clear who was the first to be infected when and where. On the first weekend of the tournament, Djokovic also contacted a basketball game with basketball player Nikola Jokic, who has now also tested positive.

"Great damage done"

Djokovic's father, Srdjan Djokovic, accused Grigor Dimitrov in a TV interview on Wednesday. "He was extremely damaging to the relationship between Serbia and Croatia," he said, not the first time to cause some displeasure with rash statements.

"He got sick, he knows where, and now he has done great damage to our country and our family," Srdjan Djokovic continued. His son Novak, on the other hand - who has now also tested positive for COVID-19 - does not feel good in the present situation. "Nobody feels good, but we will emerge stronger from it." Most recently, Srdjan Djokovic thumped against Roger Federer again . At almost 40 years old, he should do something other than play tennis. He only plays anyway because he feels the breath of Nadal and Djokovic on the back of his neck.

Dimitrov's manager had admitted mistakes after his protégé's illness. "Each of us did some. We weren't as disciplined as we should have been. We were in constant contact with other people. The emotions overlaid the existing regulations in Serbia."

Grigor Dimitrov himself is doing better, however. He had no symptoms and felt tired. "I think he'll be okay."
