Like the wildcards for the main field and qualification, the free tickets for the double competition of the Generali Open Kitzbühel also go to a young Austrian quartet. Local hero Alexander Erler will serve with Lucas Miedler - in addition to the singles - also in the doubles main draw. The 21-year-old Neil Oberleitner, who recently won seven doubles tournaments in a row at ITF level, has the chance of his first ATP appearance alongside Tristan-Samuel Weissborn.
ÖTV sports director Jürgen Melzer is also pleased, who himself, as the best-ranked Austrian in doubles, did without a Kitzbühel wildcard in favor of “his” boys: “The chance that the young guard will start here, and also once in an ATP 250 tournament can prove is of course very cool. Above all, Neil Oberleitner has shown at the future level that he wins tournaments week after week. You have to see how he's doing with the more experienced doubles. For me it will definitely be interesting to see how the two Austrian pairings present themselves, ”said Melzer.
