On the list of players at the Generali Open Kitzbühel 2019 there are also a few names with which Austria's flagship tennis player and number one of the tournament still has an invoice open: In addition to last year's winner Martin Klizan, this is above all Fernando Verdasco. The Austrian's record against the former top 10 player is 0: 4 in favor of the Spaniard.

In addition to Verdasco, Richard Gasquet and Pablo Carreno Busta, two other former top ten players will enrich the field of the Generali Open Kitzbühel 2019.

At the top of the entry list for the 75th edition of the traditional tournament, Monte Carlo finalist Dusan Lajovic follows Austria's number one. The Serb has presented himself strongly at the Generali Open Kitzbühel in recent years: "He can be involved in any clay court tournament", tournament director Alexander Antonitsch also knows. The same applies to the young Italian Marco Cecchinato, who after winning the semi-finals in Paris last year already celebrated a tournament victory on clay, or to the long-running favorite Pablo Cuevas. The latter was also in a final in Estoril this year. "The field of players at the Generali Open Kitzbühel 2019 is a very interesting mixture of excellent clay court players and some youngsters, who we are pleased to see in Kitzbühel for the first time," said tournament director Antonitsch: "Even if it is of course the case and on is that we see the number four in the world and the local hero play with us - for Dominic it will be anything but a sure-fire success. There are many opponents who can be extremely dangerous on sand, "said Antonitsch.

Rodionov receives Octagon wildcard

The first cut off of the entry list is currently number 78 in the world, with Pablo Andujar, who is also back after long injuries. A very good cut, the organizers of the Generali Open Kitzbühel, Markus Bodner and Herbert Günther are also happy: “The competition from the other tournaments is great at this time and we are pleased that our cut is the most densely populated clay court tournament of the summer are. ”Ten other top 100 players are on the waiting list. Dennis Novak also couldn't make it into the strong first cut. At the moment, like the other Austrians, he is dependent on a wildcard from the organizers. These two tickets will be awarded at a later date, also in order to be able to better deal with current events. Fortunately, it is already clear that licensor Octagon will also be giving his wildcard to an Austrian this year, namely Jurij Rodionov. The 20-year-old from Matzen played in Kitzbühel last year through a strong qualification in his first main field on the ATP Tour.

And another tip for the fans: Ticket sales have been going very well for some time, but things have been going really well since Paris: “Last year we were sold out four times in a row at the Center Court, so if you want to be part of the Generali Open Kitzbühel 2019, we recommend getting your tickets as soon as possible, ”says the tournament director.
