Günter Bresnik about Thiem: "Would be a fool if I believed that no mistake has happened"
Günter Bresnik spoke about his protégé Dennis Novak at the Erste Bank Open - and of course Dominic Thiem.

It got off to a good start in Vienna at the Erste Bank Open for Günter Bresnik: His two main draw protégés are in round 2 - Gael Monfils after a two-set win against Italian youngster Lorenzo Musetti, Dennis Novak after his success against Gianluca Mager on Tuesday evening.
He was surprised, said Bresnik in an interview with heute.at , how quickly Novak got fit again. "Dennis was really wrong when he came back to me. He didn't even have 15 minutes to train with my players," he said. Actually, he had planned ten to twelve months for renewed physical fitness.
Novak had returned to Bresnik in the spring after moving with Wolfgang Thiem - who had subsequently accused Bresnik of "manipulative abilities" . Bresnik now rejected that. "I've never asked a player in my life to train with me," he said. "I'm proud of that. I find this ingratiation disgusting."

The relationship with Team Thiem is still bad, he always has to be careful what he says about Dominic, "because then a lawyer letter comes along," said the 60-year-old. Bresnik admitted that he also wondered about his own mistakes, which may have led to the separation. "If you followed a player for as long as I did Dominic - privately and professionally - then I would be a fool if I believed there was no mistake."
