Hüsler beat the youngster Holger Rune 6: 4, 7: 6 (8) in the final and thus struck for the first time on the ATP tour. It is also the first Swiss tournament triumph since Roger Federer won the home tournament in Basel in 2019.

Just one week after the retirement of the best Swiss player of all time, Hüsler came as a complete surprise: in the round of 16 he eliminated second-seeded Pablo Carreno Busta and in the semi-finals young Italian Lorenzo Musetti. Rune had benefited from an injury to top seeded Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals.

Hüsler managed an early break against Rune, in the second round he fended off several set balls with nerves of steel. And shortly afterwards crowned himself the winner.

For Hüsler, for the first time in the final of an ATP tournament, things are also going up steeply in the ranking: he will be number 64 starting tomorrow! He is currently the only Swiss player in the top 100.

Run by Fallert/Otte ends in the final

Meanwhile, the successful run of the German duo Fabian Fallert and Oscar Otte came to an end in doubles. The two had defeated the top seeded Simone Bolelli/Fabio Fongnini, among others, but then lost in the final to Rafael Matos/David Vega Hernandez 6:3, 5:7, [8:10].
