Ugo Humbert in Dubai on Friday

Compared to the first semi-final at the ATP Tour 500 tournament in Dubai, in which Andrey Rublev was disqualified after freaking out towards a lines judge and Alexander Bublik thus moved into the final, the game between Ugo Humbert and Daniil Medvedev offered less drama. And yet excellent tennis, especially from the French left-hander. Humbert ultimately won 7-5 and 6-3, ensuring that Medvedev would fail again at a venue where he has already won a tournament. Namely last year in the final against Andrey Rublev.

The first set was even before Medvedev had to give up his serve in the twelfth game. Like again in the second round. But Medvedev managed another rebreak - but not the turnaround. Instead, Humbert struck again and can win the second 500cc title of his career tomorrow. He achieved his first coup on grass in Halle-Westphalia in 2021.

It was there that Alexander Bublik won his biggest championship last year. With a final win against Andrey Rublev.
