No tennis until July 13th, i.e. until after the actual Wimbledon date - this is the current status of tennis due to the corona virus. And whether professional tennis can actually be played again, on a European clay court or in the USA on a hard court, with all the trimmings? It is more than questionable. /

The Spanish tennis association, meanwhile, is making plans if the tennis break should last longer. As the daily Marca reports, they are working with the association's vice president, ex-professional Tomas Carbonell, on a summer tour in which the best Spanish players could take part. From the top 100 would be Rafael Nadal, Roberto Bautista Agut, Pablo Carreno Busta, Albert Ramos, Fernando Verdasco, Pablo Andujar, Feliciano Lopez, Alejandro Davidovich and Roberto Carballes Baena.

Eight to ten tournaments in Spain are under discussion, should the summer tennis on the regular tour to the US Open be canceled. This could become realistic if the corona pandemic in Europe flattened in the summer - especially since it can be assumed that the USA will still be severely affected during this time and intercontinental travel or major events in the affected countries could therefore be canceled.

Nadal playing mini-tennis with his sister

Nadal, who reached the quarter-finals at the Australian Open earlier this year and lost there to Dominic Thiem , has repeatedly released videos of himself training during the past few days - both in the endurance area and in mini-tennis with his sister Maribel in the garden .

For the Spanish association, Nadal was only at the Davis Cup final last year and had led Spain to victory in Madrid.
