Medvedev continues a new run, he has not given a set since losing the final to Rafael Nadal at the US Open. /

Against Tsitsipas everything went smoothly for the server in the first round, but at 4: 4 the Greek suddenly came to 0:40. Medvedev scored five points in a row. In the tie-break everything went well for the server, at 6: 5 Medvedev finally managed the mini-break to win the set.

In run two he managed the apparently decisive break to 2: 1 with a wonderful backhand pass. When serving, however, Tsitsipas came to a 0:40 thanks to the generous help of his counterpart. Medvedev bravely fended off the first breakball with serve-and-volley, then Tsitsipas immediately pulled. Just to give up his serve again and get a warning.

Medvedev celebrated his renewed break with encouraging signs towards the audience that had previously cheered on Tsitsipas. This time Medvedev stayed cool afterwards and served from scratch.

Medvedev's strong season continues

For the 23-year-old Russian it is the eighth victory in a row - all without giving up a sentence. He won in St. Petersburg in mid-September.

Medvedev has 28 wins from the last 31 games; he had already turned up powerfully in the US hard court summer and reached the finals of Washington and Montreal; in Cincinnati he won the title, among other things after a semi-final victory over Novak Djokovic. The final in Shanghai is his third in a Masters tournament (all in 2019) and his ninth final this year. It is also his sixth final in a row. His record against Tsitsipas is now five wins with no defeat.

Also at the US Open, Medvedev, physically battered, had entered the finals and Rafael Nadal had offered a crazy five-set fight after a 0: 2 set deficit .

In the final of Shanghai, he now meets the winner of the game between Alexander Zverev and Matteo Berrettini.
