Daniil Medvedev has moved to fourth place in the ATP world rankings published on Monday, displacing Roger Federer.

Medvedev made up almost 1,000 points after his victory at the ATP Masters tournament in Paris-Bercy and is now at 6,970 points.

In front of him are Novak Djokovic (11,830 points), Rafael Nadal (9,850) and Dominic Thiem (9,125). Behind Medvedev, Federer (6,630), Stefanos Tsitsipas (5,925) and now Alexander Zverev (5,525) are closer together. Zverev's lead over Andrey Rublev in eighth place is 1,606 points.

Djokovic will now surely end 2020 at the top.

Federer and the 2020 ranking

The reason that Federer is still in the top 10 - or top 50 - even though he only played one tournament (the Australian Open) in 2020 and was injured afterwards, is because, due to the corona situation, none this year Points are lost but can only be gained.

Medvedev made use of this: Although overall he did not come close to his strong results from 2019, with four tournament wins, he failed at the start in Paris last year. With his victory yesterday he was able to gain a lot. And has equalized his career high from September 2019.

Otherwise there are only a few shifts at the top: Milos Raonic made up three places and is now 13th, Stan Wawrinka has gained two places and is now listed in 18th place.

Best Germans after Zverev: Jan-Lennard Struff (36th), Dominik Koepfer (65th), Philipp Kohlschreiber (97th), Yannick Hanfmann (98th). Best Austrians after Thiem: Dennis Novak (96th), Jurij Rodionov (141st, another career high) and Sebastian Ofner (158th).

Women's world ranking: Angelique Kerber in 25th place

There was no WTA tournament for women last week, so nothing at the top has changed.

Ashleigh Barty still leads ahead of Simona Halep and Naomi Osaka. Best German is Angelique Kerber in 25th place, best Austrian Barbara Haas in 148th place.
