Nick Kyrgios in 2020: one of the good guys. At the beginning of the year, the Australian had called for fundraisers against the Australian bush fires, then had a good (and scandal-free) tournament at the Australian Open, got along reasonably with favorite enemy Rafael Nadal and announced at the end that he had made progress as a person . /

Kyrgios has not been seen on the tennis court since the beginning of the corona crisis. On the one hand, he expressed his displeasure at the early stage about being careless in dealing with COVID-19, especially as part of the Adriatic tour. On the other hand, he had to cancel a start in Berlin due to the aggravated situation in his home country.

As an active observer of the events, Kyrgios is present like no other. He had two players especially in mind: Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem. For Zverev's party appearance in Monte Carlo , Kyrgios lost the video version ("How selfish can you be?"), Thiem's Zverev defense was followed by an equally outraged tweet ("What are you talking about, Dominic Thiem?").

Coric on Kyrgios: "Like a general after a battle"

Now Borna Coric seems to be on. The Croatian was also active on the Adriatic tour and had announced his positive Corona test as the second player after Grigor Dimitrov, most recently Coric played again in Belgrade at the invitation tournament of Janko Tipsarevic. And expressed himself in conversation with sportske.jutarnji.hr to the extent that Kyrgios behaved "like a general after a battle". "I read what he said. But I don't care," said Coric. "He likes to act like a general after a battle. If that came from someone else, I might understand that ... but from Kyrgios ... that's not believable."

Zverev had behaved badly, Coric agreed, "but I don't understand how he can criticize a colleague like that. I wouldn't have done that. But again: it's Kyrgios."

Kyrgios: "Do you have stones in your head?"

Of course there were contradictions. "You shouldn't care," Kyrgios tweeted on Wednesday. "Maybe you have stones in your head? Again: You can stand by your buddies, but I think they are responsible." And Kyrgios tried again to get rid of the nimbus "tennis professional". "They're tennis players, they're nothing special. But as I thought, Coric's intellectual level was zero."

Here, too, he made it clear that Kyrgios likes to criticize food. In previous tweets, some professionals had already been labeled "Potatos" for him, Corics "0" decorated Kyrgios with the "Donut", which was also popular. He had recently designated Boris Becker as such.
